DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:50 P.M.) – A former member of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was arrested by the Austrian authorities in June for allegedly murdering several wounded Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers while fighting in the Homs Governorate.
The unnamed rebel was arrested in June after he bragged to a fellow refugee that he had killed many wounded soldiers in Syria before his departure, the AFP News Agency reported on Thursday.
The 27 year old rebel initially admitted to the Austrian authorities that he committed these crimes; however, he later retracted his confession, according to the AFP.
Austrian authorities are charging the former Free Syrian Army combatant with up to 20 murder charges for his participation in war crimes during the Syrian Conflict.
