DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:40 A.M.) – The Free Syrian Army’s “Jaysh Al-Izza” faction launched a surprise attack in the northwestern countryside of Hama on Saturday, targeting the area to the west of Mhardeh.

Jaysh Al-Izza reportedly began their assault by storming the Shelot Checkpoint and Al-Malh Hill this morning; this resulted in a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) that is still ongoing at the moment.

According to a military source in northern Hama, reinforcements from the National Defense Forces in Mhardeh have arrived to the Tal Malh area to help drive back the Jaysh Al-Izza fighters attacking their positions.

Jaysh Al-Izza has reportedly captured the Shelot Checkpoint after a short battle this morning.
