BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 A.M.) – The Free Syrian Army (FSA) launched a counter-offensive against the Islamic Sate (ISIL) in the northeastern countryside of Damascus on Saturday morning, targeting the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains.

Led by Jaysh Asoud Al-Sharqiyah and Ahmad ‘Abdo Martyrs Brigade, the Free Syrian Army attacked the sites recently captured by the Islamic State in the eastern slopes of the Qalamoun Mountains; this resulted in a fierce battle that lasted for several hours on Saturday.

According to the Free Syrian Army’s official media wing, their forces recaptured Ba’ar Al-Manqoura, Zubidah, Daba’a, and the Al-Dab Mountains after an intense battle with the Islamic State terrorists.

The Free Syrian Army also claimed more than 20 Islamic State terrorists were killed during this counter-offensive, while their forces only lost 10 fighters.
