“Russia and Iran should stop playing games and seriously engage in finding a responsible and peaceful solution [in Syria],” President of European Council Donald Tusk said during a European Parliament address in Strasbourg on Wednesday.
In his remarks, Tusk said the European Council backed the UK Government’s declaration “that it is highly likely that the Russian Federation is responsible for the nerve agent attack in Salisbury.”
On another front, Tusk pressed the UK to find a feasible solution to the Ireland and Northern Ireland border issue, saying that “The UK’s decision on Brexit has caused the problem and UK has to help solve it.”
He added: “Without a solution, there will be no withdrawal agreement and no transition.”
