BEIRUT, EL LÍBANO. – Jaysh al-Islam (Ejército del Islam), junto con Faylaq al-Rahman, lanzaron una ofensiva navideña que apuntaba a las posiciones del Ejército Árabe Sirio cerca de las granjas Hazrama en el este de Guta.

Tras la movilización masiva de sus fuerzas ayer, Jaysh al-Islam decidió atacar rápidamente las posiciones del Ejército Árabe Sirio en la Guta oriental el 24 de diciembre por la mañana.

A pesar de sus grandes esfuerzos para infiltrarse en las posiciones del gobierno cerca de las Granjas Hazrama, Jaysh al-Islam y sus aliados fueron finalmente derrotados después de una batalla de dos horas en la víspera de Navidad.

Según una fuente militar en Damasco, al menos diez militantes de Jaysh al-Islam murieron el sábado, mientras que el Ejército Árabe Sirio afirmó que tres de sus propios soldados habían muerto en acción.

Se espera que la 105ª Brigada del Ejército Árabe Sirio de la Guardia Republicana lance una ofensiva masiva en las próximas semanas, mientras intentan recobrar posiciones a lo largo de la Carretera Harasta.
