BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 P.M.) – A total of 9 suspects involved in organised drug trade were arrested in Berlin, among them 4 described by police as members of the islamist scene, defined by it’s readiness to violence. The persons all asylants from Syria and Iraq were arrested in 6 raids by the German special operations commando SEK in Berlin’s districts Neukölln, Köpenick, Mariendorf and Zehlendorf.
Drugs and weaponry were seized in the operation on Wednesday and investigators are now checking if the suspects are linked to the Islamic State (IS). Today another suspect was arrested in the German city of Essen. According to police he was under surveillance for some time and planned a terroristic attack.
Meanwhile further details about the case of Anis Amri, the Islamic State terrorist who killed 12 visitors of a christmas market in Berlin last year, have emerged. A special investigation discovered, that federal investigators, manipulated data and deleted names of people involved in the case.
The retrieved data shows, that Amri also was very active in organised drug trade and could have been arrested, before the attack took place.
