BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – Former rebels from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) are now fighting alongside the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Daraa Governorate after years of conflict.

The rebel fighters from Free Syrian Army’s Shabab Al-Sunnah Brigade are currently taking part in the Syrian Arab Army’s ongoing offensive against the ISIS-affiliated Jaysh Khaled bin Walid terrorists in the Yarmouk Basin region.

A Russian field reporter in the Daraa Governorate recently chronicled  the ongoing participation of these rebels – footage below:

According to a Syrian military report, over 500 former rebels are now fighting alongside the government forces after settling their cases in the Daraa Governorate.

These reconciled rebels were given the option to serve alongside the Syrian Arab Army in order to settle their cases and remain in the Daraa and Al-Quneitra governorates.

Not a great surprise : the FSA-Southern Front faction was still very secular and had stopped to fight SAA long ago while switching into fighting ISIS only.
Didn’t you noticed how the Southern Front held area easily entered the reconciliation process while SAA only had to really battle Nusra+other roaches held areas?
I was -again- heavily thumbdowned when I predicted this, despite it was -as usual- facts-based.
Idlib might not be so easy, unfortunately.

Wow!!! These former rebels sure display some interesting sniper rifles!
Where might have they procured them from?

I do not know if the regular SAA infantry soldier has the luxury of operating such sniper rifle.

Good decision. Rather than moving these 500 to Idlib who will again join up with some or other terrorist & head choppers it is better to remain in Daara & Queneitra and save Syria from ISIS by eliminating them.

Now they are fighting for their own country rather than against their country. Good job done by the Russian Reconciliation Center and Syrian Government for giving them an opportunity.
