BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:40 A.M.) – Footage has been released showing Syrian forces liberating the strategic town of ‘Uqayribat, the ISIS terrorist group’s last stronghold in eastern Hama Governorate.

After taking control of the town from ISIS earlier in the week, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and forces allied to it where made to contend with a large counter-attack by the jihadist group which saw some sections of the town fall back into Islamic State hands.

In the end however, the Syrian troops, backed by Russian airstrikes, managed to fully re-secure the town and drive ISIS militants from it, expelling them into the surrounding countryside.

The video below shows Syrian troops methodically moving from house to house throughout the town under fire from rearguard ISIS units.

According to some reports, 120 ISIS fighters have been killed across eastern Hama in just the last few days.
