Darayya, Syria (8:00 P.M.) – The first phase of the Darayya agreement to surrender the town to the Syrian government has concluded after more than 300 militants from Liwaa Shuhada Al-Islam and Ajnad Al-Sham were transferred to the Idlib Governorate.

In exchange for the Syrian government’s transfer of 300 militants, Liwaa Shuhada Al-Islam agreed to free 20 Syrian Arab Army (SAA) prisoners, as well as hand over the bodies of 14 fallen soldiers.

Liwaa Shuhada Al-Islam is also in the process of handing over two captured tanks and one BMP; these were seized during the four year long battle for Darayya.

The second phase of this agreement will take place over the next few days, as the Syrian government transfers the remaining Islamist rebels to the Idlib Governorate.

It would have been better if they had been killed. These 300 militants will be fighting and causing problems elsewhere in Syria now.

Im not a military man, but I once read somewhere that attacking forces generally need a minimum 3 to 1 manpower advantage when storming a well defended urban zone and can expect to lose 1-2 of every 3 of them to death or injury….that translates to roughly 900 troops needed, and 300 odd casualties minimum. I also read recently that 2500 troops were taking part in the Darraya operations. Let the filth go to Idlib and stress the resources of their comrades there…..they will have to be housed, fed, tended to, etc, and let the SAA save its soldiers and… Read more »

There’s a problem with the site: I can link to only one story, “1st Phase of Darayya Surrender…” None of the other links works.
