BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 P.M.) – The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization released its first picture of the accident that occurred at a construction site at the Natanz nuclear reactor south of Tehran on Thursday morning.
Earlier in the day, Behrooz Kamalundi, a spokesman for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said in a telephone conversation with state TV that uranium enrichment was continuing at the Natanz nuclear facility despite the accident in one of the facility’s units.
He added: “There is no truth to what some hostile media are promoting about the presence of nuclear pollution resulting from the accident.”
According to previous statements by Kamalundi, the accident that took place this morning resulted in parts of the building being damaged without human losses, and experts are conducting an investigation to find out its causes.
