BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:45 P.M.) – A fierce confrontation broke out in and around the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate on Thursday, prompting both the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and jihadist rebels to trade attacks.
According to a field report from Aleppo city, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham heavily shelled the Al-Zahra’a Association Quarter, hitting several buildings inside this part of the provincial capital.
In response, the Syrian Arab Army fired several artillery shells of their own towards the Anadan Plain.
The source said that the Syrian Army’s artillery strikes hit the jihadist-held towns of Anadan, Bayanoun, and Haritan in northwestern Aleppo.
Both sides are still trading attacks in Aleppo this afternoon, despite the fact they are both in violation of the Sochi Agreement from September 17th.
The total number of casualties from these attacks is still unknown at this time; however, the material damage has been significant.
