Clashes between government troops and Kurdish militia in the northeastern city of Al-Qamishli  dramatically intensified today after calls for a ceasefire have apparently fallen on deaf ears.

The US-backed Kurdish militia have escalated their offensive today by attacking the Military Security headquarter downtown.

In response, the Syrian Armed Forces pounded YPG positions near the city’s Stadium and Alaya prison which was taken by the Kurdish militants earlier this day.

Plumes of smoke were seen rising from the city’s districts as the Army tanks targeted the militiamen. Subsequently, civilians began evacuating the area for fear of further shelling, heading to open farmlands eastward.

The Army’s military helicopters were seen hovering above the city; no bombardment reported.

Earlier this day, two suicide attacks targeting gatherings of YPG killed at least 15 and wounded several more. ISIS immediately claimed responsibility for  double explosions.

Firefights erupted yesterday between the two warring parties after the militants operating under the People’s Protection Units (YPG) surprisingly attacked checkpoints run by the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF), kidnapping several members.

Great, kurds need to get a taste of their own medicine, attacking, killing constantly against Assyrian Christians and taking their properties like a mafia, they are very similar to ISIS. Backed by U.S. this is good news.
