Syria’s government troops are constantly tightening the noose around a key rebel enclave in southwest Damascus after making fresh gains today.
The Syrian Army’s elite 4th Armoured Division launched, this afternoon, a swift military operation, aided by heavy artillery shelling, in the western flank of the insurgent-held suburb of Darraya.
As a result, the Army recaptured Nour Al-Deen Mosque and the surrounding blocks. Scores of militants have been killed during the offensive.
A military source told Al Masdar News that this significant advance will further tighten the noose around the militants in the besieged suburb.
