Jihadi fighters seized, today, a strategic hilltop in southwestern Aleppo following fierce battles with government troops, thus concluding what they called the ‘first phase’ of the attack.
The jihadist gains are part of a wide-scale offensive which was launched yesterday to lift the two-week long siege on rebel-held districts of the city.
Al-Mushrifah hilltop is situated less than 1300 meters from the Artillery School of Ramouseh; the last and most fortified defense line for the Syrian Army.
A military source told Al-Masdar News that jihadi fighters are attempting to break into the Artillery School from two frontlines; Al-Mushrifah hilltop and 1070 Al-Hamdaniyah Housing Project. No progress has been been made so far.
