The Syrian elite Republican Guard troops, backed by the security forces, seized, today Wednesday, the strategic hilltop of Tell Farzat to the north of Marj as-Sultan airbase in Eastern Ghouta.

A military source told Al Masdar that army soldiers immediately began entrenching and fortifying the area as a counterattack is widely expected.
the Russia-US brokered ceasefire in Syria has been violated by Islamic rebels on March 9th, when hundreds of militants attacked Army positions in Bala, a few kilometers to the west.
Islamic factions fighting in Eastern Ghouta primarily include al-Qaeda franchise in Syria, Jabhet al-Nusra, Faylaq al-Rahman and the Saudi-backed Jaysh Islam.
