Palmyra Update: 24-3-2016

The battle for the ancient city of Palmyra in the heart of the Syrian desert has dramatically escalated today with the Syrian Armed Forces, backed by the allied National Defense Forces, continue to clamp down on ISIS positions outside the city.

Amid soaring morale to restore the world heritage site, the Syrian Armed Forces have fully recaptured Semiramis Hotel (formerly the Meridian), Mouza Palace and Al-Zera’a roundabout located at the entrance of Palmyra.

The attacking forces also secured Muhtar Mount and the Tombs valley, and are now preparing to liberate Brigade 550.

A few kilometers to the north, the sever sandstorm was no obstacle for the highly-trained government troops to impose full control on at-Tat (Al-Tar) Mountain, from where they pound, with heavy artillery, ISIS barricades near the ancient castle of Palmyra before storming it.

I think you mean Iraq don’t you? The US is inserting troops into Iraq, Russia has fomented the Syrian liberation of all taken territory through relentless airstrikes and support.

Russia doesn’t want Ukraine, it’s a failed state. Crimea will be joined soon by a bridge and that will be that. Kiev should beware, stay out and abide by Minsk2.

People with no knowledge of Geo-poltics should read up and refrain from comment until they know what they are talking about.

Last year western MSM really played up the taking of Palmrya, now that the Syrian Army is set up and are taking it back not a peep from them. The UK and US wanted ISIS in there to maintain the narrative, control opinions back home and keep pressure on Assad. Good luck guys, the world is watching and supporting you.
