Nearly 16 female jihadists are expected to arrive at Russia to embark in terror attacks against specific targets on Russian soil, Russian authorities said.
The female suicide bombers, who will most likely enter Russia through Europe, have been trained in Turkey by Safari al-Jabari, a citizen of Russian Federation, under a group called “The Land Pilgrimage”
Security forces said the targets mainly include public transport and metro stations, in addition to military facilities and barracks.
The descriptions and personal data of the suspected suicide bombers have been promulgated to security forces across the country in order to take the necessary preventative measures.
Russia has been a staunch supporter of Syrian President Bashar Assad ever since the uprising broke out in March 2011. Assad’s foes, mainly made up of extremist and ultra-hardline groups, threatened Moscow of carrying out terror attacks on its territories.
The menace of such actions has significantly increased as Russian jetfighters started pounding positions of anti-Assad groups in September 31st, 2015.
