Several rebel commanders were killed by a missile fired from an unidentified drone on their vehicles in the northwestern city of Idlib, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

Local sources said that among the killed is a senior commander from Jabhet Fateh al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front), without mentioning his name.

Idlib is entirely controlled by a coalition of jihadi groups led by al-Qaeda franchise in Syria.

Two weeks ago, Ahmad Salamah Mabrouk, aka Abu al-Faraj al-Massri, a notorious Nusra commander was killed along with two of his companions when a missile hit their car in a village near Jisr al-Shogour.

Al-Marsi appeared in a video recording next to al-Nusra chief in Syria, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, when the group changed its name to Jabhet Fateh al-Sham last August.

The drone which killed al-Masri is believed to be affiliated with the US-led coalition.

Is this a case of the US getting rid of those who could implicate them supporting terrorism as the US knows the game is over ?

And what would it change? Do you think there’ll be any court case against CIA in the US? Seriously? And you hope for what? US sued at the ICC? The 1991 Highway of Death attack was a patented war-crime, has anybody been sued? And all the coups in South-America in the 70’s? Or the infamous Col. James Steele in San Salvador or Iraq with his death squads? It’s not a real issue, all this stuff is legally classified for 50 years, they simply don’t want a new Osama, they prefer to get rid of them while they still know where… Read more »

According to the fact that Russia is not very into armed drones, it’s very likely to be an US strike and likely to be a high value target… The video is very graphic, no doubts… Due to the damages, the strike was probably smth more powerful than a Hellfire missile. Maybe a SDB?

They’ve taken out one of the 3 head of the hydra last week, you know. There are VERY honest people in the US who really want to take care of terrorists the way they deserve it, even if there are corrupted politicians.

Well, a drone strike in an area the US are not operating against a car is not against an unknown person but a very targetted killing…
