BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:35 A.M.) – Over 900 Syrian Marines have been moved to the military shield forces that is under the command of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), a military source told Al-Masdar News on Wednesday evening.

These 900+ men are wanted for conscription in the Syrian Arab Army; however, due to their prior participation with the Syrian Marines, they have been granted permission by the Syrian Ministry of Defense to join the elite military shield forces.

Falsified reports spread by opposition activists alleged that these 900 men were removed from the Syrian Marines, but a military source confirmed that this was not the case.

While the location of the military shield forces is currently unknown due to their mission; it is widely believed that they are currently participating in the west Palmyra offensive.

The remaining Syrian Marines that were not part of this band of 900 men wanted for conscription will remain in northern Latakia, where they will stay under the command of Aymen Jaber.
