DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:35 A.M.) – The first convoy carrying militants and their families from the last rebel-held city of East Ghouta has left to the country’s north as per an evacuation deal with Russia.
Up to 24 buses carrying 1198 people – including Jaysh al-Islam rebel fighters and their families – left the city of Douma via al-Wafideen crossing to Jarabulus in northern Aleppo.
Tens of Thousands of militants who refused to reconcile with the Syrian government are waiting – with their families – to be deported in a process that might take a whole week to be completed.
