BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:00 P.M.) – An official from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told Kurdistan 24 on Monday that an estimated 1,000 Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) fighters were left inside their Euphrates enclave.

“There is no official record, but there are maybe more than a thousand mercenaries [ISIS fighters] there, most of them foreigners: Europeans, Turks, a lot of Iraqis, Asians,” Adnan Afrin of the SDF told Kurdistan 24.

The SDF official said that the Islamic State is confined to approximately 700 square meters of territory inside this Euphrates enclave.

“But this was incorrect. Once we started the operation, some 5,000 civilians were liberated. After collecting additional information from the civilians, it seems there are more trapped in the city. The number is higher, you saw it with your own eyes,” he added.

The remaining Islamic State terrorists have refused to surrender themselves to the Syrian Democratic Force, despite being completely surrounded by the latter.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

If coalition had any brains they’d be calling China in to take care of them instead of SDF. Do not need to have reporters here.
