BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:05 P.M.) – The military of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) accidentally downed a Saudi chopper that was flying over the Yemeni city of Mar’ib on Tuesday, local activists reported this afternoon.

According to these local activists, an Emirati air defense system mistakenly attacked the Saudi Black Hawk helicopter, killing all on-board of this aircraft in Mar’ib.

The total number of military personnel on-board of this Black Hawk helicopter was 15, including 12 Saudi officers and 3 staffers.

Tuesday’s friendly fire incident marks the first time this year that the Emirati and Saudi military forces have come into contact with one another.
