After their success in Wadi Barada, fighters from the Syrian Army’s Republican Guard are deploying to Jobar, in Damascus.

Specifically, the 105th brigade from the Republican Guard is en-route to Jobar, to assist other pro-government units stationed there in their fight against Islamist terrorists.

The Republican Guard is regarded as one of the most competent forces in Syria, and they typically have access to the most advanced weapons and armaments available to the Syrian Army.

Around 4,000 fighters from the Republican Guard, led by Issam Zahreddine, are currently defending besieged areas in Deir Ezzour, against ISIS terrorists.

Several weeks ago, militants in Wadi Barada cut-off the supply of water to millions of Syrians living in Damascus by poisoning the water sources with diesel. Pro-government forces were recently able to retake the area.

First priority should be Deir-ez-Zor, where the 9000 extra Daesh from Mosul are due to arrive in a few days.
