ALEPPO, SYRIA (9:05 P.M.) – The elite Desert Hawks Brigade (Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra) were recently deployed to a new front in the Aleppo Governorate after spending several months in northeast Latakia.
Furthermore, their whereabouts were unknown at the time due to the limited information provided to Al-Masdar News.
On Thursday, Al-Masdar News learned that the Desert Hawks Brigade were deployed to the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate, where they are expected to launch an offensive against the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).
According to a military source in Aleppo, the primary objective for the Desert Hawks is still unknown; however, the target is believed to be Deir Hafer.
Deir Hafer is an Islamic State stronghold in east Aleppo that is located along the Aleppo-Raqqa Highway; it is considered the gateway to the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
With the Turkish-backed rebels and Kurdish-led “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) eyeing the Islamic State stronghold of Al-Bab, the Desert Hawks will likely shift their attention to another front.
