Esta mañana el Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS) ha iniciado una ofensiva contra Jabath Fateh al-Sham (anteriormente Frente al-Nusra) que persiste en el manantial de al-Fijah, en Wadi Barada.

Dirigidos por la 42ª Brigada de la 4ª División Mecanizada, las Fuerzas Armadas Sirias han asaltado al grupo yihadista que ayer revocó el acuerdo del cese de hostilidades y se negó a abandonar la zona.

Hasta el momento no hay constancia de avances en el manantial de al-Fijah a pesar de la intensidad de los enfrentamientos que están teniendo lugar entre el Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS) y Fateh al-Sham.

Este fin de semana el gobierno envió técnicos para trabajar en el naciente de agua de al-Fijah para poner fin a las tres semanas crisis de agua que está sufriendo la población de Damasco. Sin embargo, los yihadistas de Jabhat Fateh al-Sham rompieron el acuerdo de alto el fuego y asesinaron a uno de los principales negociadores en las conversaciones de paz.

La revocación del acuerdo ha provocado la reanudación de las operaciones ofensivas del Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS) en Wadi Barada, que mientras permanezca bajo control de Fateh al-Sham, no será posible restaurar el suministro de agua a los 5 millones de personas en la capital siria.
