La mañana del sábado, la 11va y 18va Divisiones del Ejército Árabe Sirio, respaldadas por helicópteros rusos, lanzaron un asalto en medio del desierto de Siria, a 30 km al este de Al-Qaryatayn.

Una fuente militar indicó que las tropas del gobierno están cada vez más cerca de la línea estratégica de al-Bardeh, después de empujar a los militantes del Estado Islámico (ISIS) y eliminar a decenas de ellos.

Las unidades del EAS están avanzando para controlar la sierra de Baridah; por su parte, desde Palmira, las fuerzas de élite del ejército sirio están avanzando hacia el este, con el objetivo de recuperar el campo de gas Arak y la estación de bombeo T3.
