BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:20 A.M.) – A military source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News tonight that the Russian and Turkish military delegations agreed to the preliminary terms regarding the strategic city of Jisr Al-Shughour and nearby Al-Ghaab Plain.

According to the source, Turkey gave the green light to the Russian military and Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to conduct an offensive to retake Jisr Al-Shughour and nearby Al-Ghaab Plain, which will give the latter access to another Turkish border-point.

The source did not reveal what Turkey will receive in exchange; however, it is very likely that the Syrian Army and Russian military will withdraw from Tal Rifa’at in northern Aleppo.

If this proves true, the agreement will be a major plus for the Russian military and Syrian Army, as the jihadists often fire missiles from Jisr Al-Shughour into the coastal province of Latakia.

Why should the Syrian army need to give up land to take other land? Who do the Turks think they are?

Because the kurds started the dirty game of split northern Siria, what is rejected by Turkey, then Syria must use the conflicts of interests. WEakening Idlib rebels, (until the recover of the lands), the kurds supported by France, are the next move. The problem is the Expansionisme of TUrkey, Manbij protected by France is nothing, (France is powerfull more than Turkey but in a proxy war the frenchs lose because logistics). USA keep because Russia, USA doesn´t win nothing in Syria. The danger is the south with the israeli interference. But… Israel knows an israeli attack make the muslims join together,… Read more »

They think they are the second most powerful Army of all the NATO countries. They also think that in normal times they could not afford a confrontation with Russia+SAA+Iran, but since the aforementioned nations have to keep in check the rest of NATO armies (plus the $$ of Gulf monarchies), Turkey has a hefty bargaining chip to play.
And they think right.

So Putin’s going to take Erdogan at his word again. The last time he did that Erdogan halted the SAA’s very successful advances in Idlib with those extra observation posts he placed between the warring parties. I can’t help wondering if he has another surprise for Putin this time too. Hopefully Putin has an even bigger surprise for him if he does.
