BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:50 P.M.) – Several reports have surfaced this evening of rebel fighters agreeing to reconcile with the Syrian government in a number of towns in west Daraa.
According to several field reports from the Daraa Governorate, the rebel forces in the towns of Inkhil, Nawa, Jassim, Nimr, and Al-Hara have accepted reconciliation terms with the government this evening.
The reports add that the rebel forces in these towns have agreed to handover their heavy and medium weapons, while also allowing government institutions to return to the aforementioned towns.
The Russian military police will execute this agreement and send their military police to these towns in order to ensure the peace and maintain security.
These reports from west Daraa still remain unconfirmed, as neither the Syrian government nor the rebel forces issued any statements to corroborate these reports.
However, if this proves true, the Syrian government will have received a major boost in west Daraa, as these towns were going to be very difficult to retake from the Free Syrian Army’s Southern Front Brigades.
