The Spanish King: What once was ours, will be ours once again; England must cede Gibraltar to Spain or we shall sacrifice blood to liberate our occupied land.

Felipe VI of Spain criticized London’s war-like rhetoric and called for an international mediation to resolve the festering crisis over the sovereignty of Gibraltar. Speaking in a ceremony commemorating the dead of a Spanish soldier killed in southern Afghanistan, the outraged monarch raised the question of Gibraltar, located on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, advocating Spain’s territorial claims over the strategic waterway.

Recently, Madrid closed airspace to all planes heading for the airport in Gibraltar and printed new maps for academic and government offices showing Gibraltar as a Spanish territory.

“The Gibraltarians themselves reject the British unlawful occupation and support union with their brothers in Spain; What once was ours, will be ours once again and England must discern this fact that there is no other option than ceding Gibraltar to its rightful owners because the Treaty of Utrecht has been expired during World War II,” Agencia EFE quoted the 52-year-old Potentate ,adding that London is depriving 30.000 Spanish citizens their right to self-determination and ignoring their wishes and democratic rights.

Much has changed for Gibraltar after Britain voted to leave the European Union, added King Felipe, and that now is the right time for London to mull over the concept of freeing the subjugated and colonized Gibraltarians; otherwise a military clash will be inevitable as we are not afraid of sacrificing blood to liberate our occupied land.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
