Hamas’ naval unit said it has captured a dolphin reportedly spying for the Israeli Intelligence Agency (Mossad).
The 001 Dolphin, caught off the coast of Gaza a couple of weeks ago, was equipped with a hi-tech surveillance camera and a sophisticated dart gun, which could have killed or wounded Hamas naval commandos.
Unlike Hamas’ official website and Twitter account which made no reference to the incident whatsoever, the “arrest” was confirmed by several Israeli media outlets including the IDF radio station and the widespread Jerusalem Post Newspaper.
The fate of the poor dolphin has not been decided yet.
Israel has been repeatedly accused of utilizing animals to do the dirty work. Sudanese security authorities, in 2012, captured an eagle with an Israeli tag.
In Egypt, the governor of South Sinai province accused Israel’s Mossad of sending killer sharks that killed and injured several foreign tourists in the bloodiest shark onslaught on the Sharm Al-Sheikh resort.
