DAMASCUS, SYRIA (9:30 P.M.) – Collateral damage is mounting in eastern Afghanistan after American warplanes have reduced much of Achin city, an ISIS stronghold in Nangarhar province, to rubbles.
According to pictures released by Amaq Agency, at least four babies were killed due to US aerial sorties over the border region on Monday. Many more are feared dead due to US bombings that were not followed up by an infantry invasion.
Last week, the Islamic State published a disturbing propaganda video covering its military activities in Afghanistan, much of which is controlled by Islamist rebels. The video featured child fighters executing prisoners of war among other war crimes.
According to Amaq Agency, upwards of 2,300 Afghani and Pakistani government soldiers have been killed in 2017 alone due to the ongoing ISIS insurgency which began in areas formerly controlled by the rival Taliban movement.
The Islamic State began its involvement in the Afghan civil war back in January, 2015 and has since grown stronger than ever before in the embattled country.
