BEIRUT, LEBAONON (12:35 A.M.) – The destruction of central Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, is evident in photos as Iraqi forces continue their offensive to purge the city of ISIS terrorists.
Most of the destruction was caused by ISIS suicide truck bombs.
The city is set to see more destruction as the Iraqi forces enter Mosul’s Old City, a dense labyrinth of narrow streets. It is anticipated that here ISIS will make their stiffest defense against the rapidly advancing Iraqi Army and Federal Police.
Meanwhile, with the newly liberated Mosul Museum, the destruction ISIS has left in the institute is evident.
In their puritanical interpretation of Islam, ISIS believes that anything pre-Islamic is considered adultery and should be destroyed, taking no consideration to the loss of human history from the destruction.
