DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:10 P.M.) – Rebel fighters of Eastern Ghouta are now building new bases in northern Syria amid conflicting reports of an upcoming offensive on Idlib province.
Jaish al-Islam rebel group is re-establishing itself in northern Aleppo through building its own bases and barracks on lands it bought just outside al-Bab and Jarabulus cities in the country’s north.
Since its arrival in northern Syria, the Saudi-backed group began to buy all kinds of weapons from smaller FSA-affiliated groups. Scores of those minor factions even joined Jaish al-Islam which attempts to establish itself as one of the main armed factions in the north.
Jaish al-Islam militants – along with other rebel groups – were evacuated from their strongholds in East Ghouta region last May.
