A massive explosion hit today a high-security zone inside the Afghan capital of Kabul, killing at least 28 and wounding nearly 330.

The area struck by the blast is close to the US Embassy, as well as several Afghan government ministries and security agencies.

State media said that a suicide bomber exploded a booby-trapped vehicle just outside the Afghan Secret Service Unit. Huge plumes of smokes were seen rising from the city center.

In a statement published on the group’s website, Taliban claimed responsibility of the suicide attack.

The bloody explosion comes a week after Taliban announced the beginning of spring attacks, vowing to target the government forces with suicide explosions and assassinations.
