BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:35 P.M.) – Confirmation has come through on earlier reports that a number of Syrian Army troops got trapped behind Islamic State lines amid a major battle with the terrorist group in the southern Damascus district of Al-Qadam.

The government soldiers had become trapped during a series of rapid ISIS gains throughout the district, however, were rescued after a small counter-attack by the Syrian Army – no other living troops have been left behind and apparently there are talks going on for the recovery of fallen servicemen.

Furthermore, it has become apparent that despite reports from official ISIS sources (which have gone viral over opposition media) of Al-Qadam’s fall to its forces, the district remains at least half under the control of the Syrian Army.

The situation in Al-Qadam is still developing (even amid an apparent ceasefire) and to this end many sources are speculating that the Syrian Army may soon launch an offensive in southern Damascus to fully recover the district.

This is proceeding in an orderly fashion to avoid civilian casualties. This is why the SAA and allies have such complete support from the people.
