BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had another successful day in the Daraa Governorate, as their troops seized a major town from the jihadist rebels.
The day began with the Syrian Arab Army storming the strategic Brigade 52 base that is located at the eastern flank of Al-Hirak.
Within minutes of launching the attack, the Syrian Army had entered Brigade 52 and secured the eastern perimeter of this base.
The jihadist rebels did not put up much of a fight, as their forces withdrew from the installation after the Syrian Army secured the eastern flank of Brigade 52.
Following the capture of Brigade 52, the Syrian Army quickly advanced south towards Rakham; they would find the town mostly empty.
With Rakham and Brigade 52 under their control, the Syrian Army was officially at the eastern flank of Al-Hirak.
Meanwhile, northwest of Al-Hirak, the Tiger Forces rolled past the jihadist rebels at Battalion 49 and Alma, giving them access to the western flank of the jihadist stronghold.
Al-Hirak was now surrounded from three different flanks and under nonstop bombardment from the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The rebels reportedly withdrew much of their forces at Al-Hirak before the Syrian Arab Army would enter the town.
As the other previous battles on Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army swept through Al-Hirak, Battalion 279, and the small town of Al-Sourah after the rebels withdrew further south.
The Syrian Army is now in position to strike the southeastern countryside of the Daraa Governorate and make a new push towards the strategic Nassib Crossing.
