On Monday morning, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – in coordination with their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen – conducted a fierce assault on the Al-Nayrab Military Airbase in east Aleppo, resulting in a violent confrontation with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Al-Quds (Jerusalem Brigades), and the Syrian Arab Army at the western perimeter of the base.
The militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen carried out their attack on the Al-Nayrab Military Airbase from their positions at the Al-Sheikh Lufti District of Aleppo City; however, the assault failed to yield any territorial gains for the Al-Qaeda linked combatants, as the Syrian Armed Forces were able to repel the attack after a series of intense clashes at the airport’s western perimeter.
According to a military source from the National Defense Forces in east Aleppo, the Al-Qaeda linked militants suffered over 20 casualties during their failed infiltration attempt; these militant casualties included a number of foreign nationals from Chechnya, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Somalia.
To counter the Al-Qaeda assault in east Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces launched their own assault on the militant groups inside the provincial capital, attacking Jabhat Al-Nusra at Radio Broadcast Tower at the western sector of the city – firefights have since dissipated, as nightfall halted all hostilities.
In addition to their assault on the Radio Broadcast Tower in Aleppo City, the Syrian Arab Army – in coordination with Liwaa Al-Quds and Kata’eb Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) – attacked Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jund Al-Aqsa at the southern perimeter of Tal SyriaTel, resulting in the death of a dozen enemy combatants and the destruction of two armored vehicles mounted with doshkas.
Also in west Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces targeted the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra at the Al-Hikmat School near the Al-Rashideen District, killing seven enemy combatants before securing the eastern corridor of the educational facility.
Fierce clashes were reported between the Syrian Arab Army and Jabhat Al-Nusra at the Al-Layramoun-Al-Khalidiyah axis in northern Aleppo, as both parties exchange territory on a daily basis, despite the prevalence of dilapidated buildings that provide no shelter for either group.
At the Journalist Association Building in western Aleppo, the militants from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) targeted a large contingent of NDF fighters, resulting in the death of at least a half dozen men from both sides and no territorial gains,
