DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:50 A.M.) – The commander of the Russian forces in Syria and head of the military operations room in east Syria honored several commanders of the Tiger Forces Qamhana Shield units for their courage and leading role in the operation to liberate Albukamal and its countryside.

The Qamhana Shield units also played an integral role in the defense of Qamhana and Hama during the massive rebel offensive on Hama in the spring of 2017. The rebels’ inability to take Qamhana broke their assault and disabled them from launching any serious attacks on the provincial capital.

It is worth noting that it is very common for commanders in the Tiger Forces to receive Russian military awards as they have proved themselves a very dependable force that is capable of coordinating well with the Russian Air Force as well as accomplishing challenging missions.

After all, it is the Tiger Forces who spearheaded Aleppo’s liberation, the counteroffensive in Hama, the capture of Khafsah, and the liberation of Resafa in Raqqa’s southern countryside amongst many other feats.
