BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:35 P.M.) – Two videos have emerged showing Iraqi forces conducting combat operations against Islamic State terrorists in the east Syrian province of Deir Ezzor during the battle for Abu Kamal city.
The battle for Abu Kamal in November saw fighters of many Middle Eastern nationalities fight alongside of the Syrian Arab Army to liberate the strategic border city from ISIS.
Among these many nationalities were Iraqis who entered Syria via Anbar province at the request of the Damascus government.
To this effect, video footage has emerged at a time now one month since the great battle. It shows Iraqi forces engaging ISIS with artillery and storming troops in countryside near the city of Abu Kamal.
The fighters shown in both videos belong to the Asaib Ahl Al-Haq paramilitary group, an extension of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units.
The main accomplishment of Asaib Ahl Al-Haq during the Abu Kamal operation was the clearing of the city’s eastern countryside from Islamic State forces.
