Six jihadi rebels from the al-Qaeda-linked Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham – including a senior commander – were killed today via an airstrike conducted by the US-coalition air force which targeted their vehicle in the northwestern province of Idlib.
Local activists confirmed that the airstrike which took place on the road linking Sarmada and Kafr Darian in the northern countryside of Idlib.
Several jihadi rebels including top commanders from al-Nusra organization and other jihadi groups have been killed in similar airstrikes in recent times.
Idlib is now home for thousands of ultraconservative militants. The province – all of which is under rebel control – has also been a destination for jihadi rebels who were forced to surrender their territories to the Syrian government in Damascus and Homs.
