BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 A.M.) – A Russian Su-25 fighter jet barely evaded anti-aircraft fire from the jihadist rebels on Thursday, as it was carrying out a mission over the Idlib countryside.
The pro-opposition Edlib Media Center (EMC) released footage of Jaysh Al-Nasr attempting to shoot down the fighter jet as it was flying over east Idlib.
The video below shows the Russian jet’s close call in Idlib:
The Su-25 was built for close combat support, thanks in large part to its armored plating that wraps around the cockpit and protects the pilot.
This protection has proven incredibly beneficial for the Russian and Syrian air forces, as they often come under heavy gunfire from the rebel and ISIS fighters.
