BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 P.M.) – The civilians that were once paraded around in cages by Jaysh Al-Islam have finally been freed from the militant group’s clutches after spending several years in a jail located inside Douma.
According to a local activists, the civilians were jubilant as they reached the Syrian government’s lines at the Wafiddeen Crossing in northern Douma.
In addition to the release of these civilians, another set of prisoners that were kidnapped from the town of ‘Adra in 2014 were also released from Jaysh Al-Islam’s prisons.
Another batch of civilians are expected to be released by Jaysh Al-Islam in the coming days, as they complete the prisoner transfer.
