China’s largest coal port, which is located in Qinhuangdao is estimated to hit the highest records of coal and ore shipment by 2017.
“Qinhuangdao port’s coal business will keep rising together with China’s coal consumption, a trend that may last for at least the next 20 years,” Xing Luzhen, the chairman of Qinhuangdao Port Co. said.
It is predicted that coal shipments from Qinhuangdao will be raised from 20 million to 30 million metric tons by 2017.
According to the information stated by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), China is currently the largest producer and consumer of coal. China accounts for 46% of global coal production as well as 49% global coal consumption.
Data revealed from the National Energy Administration states that China depends on coal for 66 percent of its energy.
Chinese coal production totaled 3.66 billion tons at the end of 2012, which accounts for nearly half of the global production total while the rates of production from the US and Europe is abut one billion tons. EIA reported that China has accounted for 69 percent of the 3.2 billion ton increase in global coal production over the past 10 year.
