China says it will provide the Syrian military with “medical and nursing professional training,” urging a political solution to the conflict in the Arab country.

In an apparent move in support of the Syrian government, the Chinese Defense Ministry announced Thursday that the military will provide training for Syrian armed forces on Chinese soil.

“The Chinese military will provide the Syrian side with [sic] medical and nursing professional training,” defense ministry spokesman Wu Qian said during a monthly briefing with reporters, adding that the mission is intended “to ease the humanitarian crisis in Syria.”

Wu said China had already been engaged in activities meant “to help reduce the humanitarian suffering of the Syrian people” by providing Syrian authorities with medical equipment and medicines.

“China has been pushing for a political solution [sic] of the Syrian conflict and we have always supported the independence of Syria,” he said, adding, “For a long period of time, China and Syria have helped each other.”

It’s nice that China is providing medical supplies to Syria and all, but I think it’s not effective to transport Syrian personnels to China’s mainland to be trained. The Syrian government might as well use the opportunity to send unemployed Syrian civilians to get the medical training instead. They could always come back and work in hospitals in government held areas. It would make sense for China to send a hospital ship to Syria to provide free medical healthcare to Syrians, and at the same time, use the opportunity train new Syrian military medics in medical trauma care. The medical… Read more »

Yeah and after your 3 day combat medic course, why not stay a week for the advanced artillery and rocket training? here, take some samples home and try them out. Oh and don’t forget the optional 1 week armed UAV bootcamp…….

but in all seriousness, the war is now at the final attrition stage and medical resources can make a positive effect in returning soldiers to the front quickly, reinforcing others while the opposition cannot, especially surrounded.

Some news from Asia, but in the Philippines :
http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/asia/2016/08/26/Philippine-troops-kill-11-Islamist-militants.html
Abu Sayyaf is more into criminal business than in islamism, they have not a single chance to succeed in their 2nd goal : Philippines are something like 85% christian and there are more buddhists than muslims but since the Marcos dictature ruined the country and there are dozens of thousands islands… Nevertheless, due to the combats in july and now this new round, Aby Sayyaf being just a few hundred manpower gang, half of them are now out and I bet few will miss them…
