The last 72 hours inside the Deir Hafer Plains of east Aleppo have been extremely cruel to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS), as the aforementioned terrorist group has lost several kilometers of territory to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF).
On Tuesday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Cheetah Forces” (Tiger Forces Branch) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Brigades) – continued their assault on the integral town of Tal Sab’een after capturing the western hills overlooking ISIS’ defensive positions.
Following a morning of intense firefights with the terrorist group, the Syrian Arab Army’s Cheetah Forces finally broke-through ISIS’ frontline defenses at Tal Sab’een, capturing the entire town after killing several enemy combatants and destroying two mounted machine guns.
With Tal Sab’een officially under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces have turned their attention to the towns of Judaydah and Sheikh Ahmad; these two aforementioned towns are located deep in the heart of the Deir Hafer Plains and were relatively untouchable two months ago.
The town of Tal Sab’een is only 6km away from the Syrian Arab Army’s frontlines at the Kuweires Military Airport; if they are able to capture the town of Sheikh Ahmad, the Cheetah Forces will be less than 2km away from lifting the two year long siege imposed by ISIS.
The key to the Syrian Army’s success in east Aleppo is the Russian Air Force – they have protected the soldiers inside the Kuweires Military Airport from all intruders, while also giving cover to the advancing Syrian Armed Forces; this situation has become an unwinnable one for ISIS due to the Russian Air Force’s presence.
