BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:10 P.M.) – CBS published new scenes documenting the moment Iranian missiles landed on the Ain Al-Assad military base in Iraq, in response to the assassination of the Quds Force commander, Major General Qassem Soleimani, on January 3rd, 2020.
The channel said that a drone filmed the scenes, which show Iranian ballistic missiles landing on sites at the second largest military base hosting US forces in Iraq.
During an interview on the 60 Minutes program, Army Major Robert Hales, the highest-ranking physician at the base, said that the attack was “similar to science fiction movies,” noting that during the bombing, he was in an armored vehicle at a safe distance.
According to the program’s report, the Iranian strike resulted in a number of injuries, most of which were concussions, which 100 soldiers experienced after the attack.
Tehran carried out an attack on January 8, 2020, in response to the assassination of Soleimani and the Deputy Head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units, Abu Mahdi Al-Mohandis, during a US raid near Baghdad Airport.
