BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:05 P.M.) – According to video-evidence based reports, the Syrian Army has completed its encirclement of the jihadist stronghold town of Harasta in Damascus’ East Ghouta region.
Sources say that storming troops from the 4th Mechanized Division broke through the last several hundred meters of Islamist defenses across the Harasta orchards and along Harasta to Douma road to reach friendly Syrian Army units at the Vehicle Management Base in Arbeen.
Based on video evidence (shown below), it appears the push to complete the siege on Harasta was completed sometime during the day-break hours of Monday morning.
By this advance, the Syrian Army has de facto sliced rebel-controlled territories in East Ghouta into three isolated pockets, severely compromising the ability of militant groups to further organize an effective defense.
Recently, footage emerged showing the moments Syrian troops fighting out of the Harasta orchards reached friendly units at the Vehicle Management Base in Arbeen.
