BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 P.M.) – The U.S. Coalition announced this evening that at least two of their soldiers and two American civilians were killed when an Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) detonated his suicide belt at a restaurant in Manbij.
The blast happened near a restaurant and market.
Preliminary reports said at least six people were killed and 19 others injured by the explosion. However, the death significantly increased over the last few hours, with some reports claiming that over 25 were killed.
he so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS) later claimed responsibility.
Surveillance footage from a nearby shop shows the blast erupting on a busy pavement, with a child fleeing.
The fireball engulfed several civilians on the street.
The US service members were reportedly killed in the explosion while conducting a routine patrol, according to a tweet from the US-led coalition ‘Operation Inherent Resolve.’
The attack comes after US President Donald Trump announced last month that around 2,000 US troops are to be withdrawn from Syria.
