BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:25 P.M.) – For the first time since the U.S. Coalition began their patrols around Tal Al-Abyad, the Turkish military has launched an attack on the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units’ (YPG) positions near this border-city.
According to the official media wing of the PYD (political wing of the YPG), the Turkish military shelled the village of Susk in the Tal Al-Abyad.
The PYD did not provide any details regarding this latest attack by the Turkish military in northern Syria.
Tal Al-Abyad is a strategic border-city that is located in the northern countryside of Syria’s Al-Raqqa Governorate.
Due to its proximity to the provincial capital of Al-Raqqa, maintaining control of Tal al Al-Abyad is imperative to the Syrian Democratic Forces and its U.S. Coalition allies.
