BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:58 P.M.) – Amid a broad-front lighting advance by the Syrian Arab Army across southern Aleppo and eastern Idlib, another four towns and villages have been snatched from the control of armed rebel groups by a key Republican Guard unit that has proven its worth on the battlefield time and time again.
Military-affiliated sources report that the towns of Atshanat Gharbiyat, Tal Aqarib, and Al-Wasitah as well as the hilltop village of Tal Hassan located along the provincial border of Aleppo and Idlib were seized by the Syrian Army just moments ago.
The assault which resulted to the capture of the settlements is being led by the 124th Brigade of the Republican Guard whose storming units appear to be advancing at pace only exceeded by those of the elite Tiger Forces Division (which is also present in the region).
By this advance the Syrian Army is now closing in on another large section of the great railway line that links the cities of Damascus and Aleppo.
Updates to follow.
